Moses: Crossing of the Red Sea
The night was full of footsteps. Men and women hurried through the streets, gathering their children and animals. The Israelites — once slaves in Egypt — were finally free! Pharaoh had shouted for them to leave, and now they were marching out, led by Moses, under the stars.

Their hearts pounded with excitement and disbelief. For years they had dreamed of this day. And now, at last, they were walking out of Egypt — not as servants, but as God’s people.

The Fire and the Cloud
At the front of the crowd, Moses lifted his staff high. “Follow the Lord!” he cried. “He will lead us!” And God did.

By day, a tall cloud went before them, guiding the way across the desert. By night, it became a pillar of fire, glowing in the dark so everyone could see. The people whispered in awe.

“Look! God’s light! He’s really with us!”

They followed for days, singing songs of joy. But then the path turned toward the sea — the great, deep Red Sea. The waves stretched wide, glimmering under the sun. There was no bridge, no boats, and no way around.

The people began to wonder, Where are we going?

Then, far behind them, came the sound that froze their hearts — the pounding of chariot wheels.

Back in Egypt, Pharaoh sat in his palace, staring at the empty streets.“What have I done?” he shouted. “I let the Israelites go, and now we’ve lost our workers! We’ll go after them!”

His army thundered out of the city — hundreds of chariots, horses snorting, spears gleaming in the sun. The ground shook as they raced into the desert.

When the Israelites saw the dust rising behind them, panic spread like fire.

“They’re coming!” someone cried. “Pharaoh’s army is coming!”

The Red Sea
Trapped between the Red Sea and the soldiers, the people turned on Moses. “Why did you bring us here?” they shouted. “Were there not enough graves in Egypt? We’re going to die in the desert!”

Moses looked out at the endless sea, then back at the roaring army. His hands trembled — but he raised his voice so everyone could hear.

“Do not be afraid!” he said. “Stand firm, and you will see the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see now, you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you only need to be still.”

The people fell silent. The Sea Begins to Move

Then the cloud that had been leading them moved behind them, standing between the Israelites and Pharaoh’s army. Darkness covered the Egyptians, but light shone on God’s people.

God spoke to Moses: “Lift your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea.”

Moses obeyed. The wind began to blow — hard and fast, howling through the night. The waves twisted and churned, then began to split apart. Right down the middle, the water rose up into walls on each side, leaving a path of dry ground straight through the sea.

The people gasped. Children clutched their parents’ hands. Moses turned and shouted, “Go! Walk through the sea! God has made a way!”

The Road of Miracles
At first, the people stepped cautiously, staring at the towering walls of water. Fish darted in the glowing blue beside them, and the ground beneath their feet was dry as dust.

Soon the whole nation — men, women, children, and animals — was walking through the sea.

Behind them, the wind howled louder. Pharaoh saw the miracle and ordered his chariots to follow. The Egyptians plunged onto the path, racing after the Israelites.

But as they entered, the ground turned muddy. The wheels of their chariots stuck fast. The horses reared and neighed in fear.

“The Lord is fighting for them!” one soldier cried. “Let’s get out of here!”

But it was too late. The Sea Returns.

On the far side, Moses looked back and saw the last of his people reach safety. Then God said, “Stretch out your hand again over the sea.”

Moses raised his staff — and the walls of water came crashing down. The sea roared as wave after wave swept over Pharaoh’s army, covering every chariot and horse. When the water settled, the Egyptians were gone.

Silence filled the air. Then someone whispered, “We’re free.”

And the whisper became a shout — a shout of joy and praise. The Israelites danced and sang on the shore. Moses’ sister Miriam took a tambourine and led the women in song:

“Sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!”

The people laughed and clapped, their tears shining in the sunlight. The God who had split the sea had set them free.

Conclusion
When we feel trapped, God can make a way. The Israelites saw only water and fear — but God saw a path no one else could see.

Courage doesn’t mean not being afraid — it means moving forward anyway. The people walked into the sea because they trusted God more than they feared the waves.

That day, the Israelites learned something they would never forget:The God was not just the God of their fathers — He was their God, the One who walks with His people through every storm and sea.
